Attached is my first atempt at a stereo cube map for the GearVR.
Used the Octane GPU Benchmark scene.
Feels pretty immersive, for a cell phone! :)

cheers,

Is there anyway to view this without a GearVR headset? I have a google cardboard headset, is there an app that I could use to view this with that?

I've not seen any cardboard viewers that would support this format image.
However, with a little slice and dice you could chop the left half into six images which you could import as a skybox/cubemap into Unity or Unreal Engine. To create the stereo skybox effect of the OrbX player, you would have to make a second cubemap from the 6 right hand images and hook both cubemaps up to whatever stereo camera rig you're engine is using. It makes for some pretty popping stereo.
