Instances

I have a subpatched mesh with instances attached to max polygons, when I view it in IPR the instances cover the whole surface, if I render it the instances seem smaller and cover less, the sub patch level and render level are the same, anyone got any ideas ?
Can you please send to me the scene to test it here? The IPR and the final render don't have the same rendering context. Something is not the same between the two contexts, but I can't figure what could be the problem without the scene.
