So basically I'm trying to render a grass material with displacement on a flat plane. The plane is made up by one polygon. The plane itself is 60 by 60 meters. Its for an archviz project I'm working on. Just need a quick good looking grass basically.
My system units is set to meters by the way.

I get these strange triangular shading errors on the plane, and i also get banding. Tried to adjust the Ray epsilon setting, but it doesen't help very much. I'm using OctaneRender® for 3ds max® v2.22.2 - 1.1 [TEST]. Had the same issue with the previous version.

So i tried this: Smoothing on, smoothing off. Unwrapped the thing so its within uv channel 1. Nothing helps.

Any suggestions?

Hi, displacement doesn't work with bump or normal mapping, dunno if you combined them in your material node.

I have no normal maps or bump maps in the material. Just a plain glossy material with a diffuse texture map and displacement. Thanks anyway ;)

did you rise a bit the amount value in the disp map ?
Keep the "edges rounding" value in general glossy mat, to 0 too.
