hi
i wonder if it's possible to use a iPhone to create somekind of simple hdri / environment image of a context to use for window reflections?

Shooting an HDR panorama to use into a 3D application is not that simple.
You can find a good guide here: http://noemotionhdrs.net/

You can get sort of panoramic image out from iPhone, but it will be only low dynamic range, plus it will not cover whole 360 field.
You can try to use it for reflections, but You will not avoid seems & the look will never be as good as it would be from good HDRi.
In order to get the best results You need specific gear with bracketing & fish-eye lens or..
Special software & take multiple shots & the assemble all of that in soft =)..
it's cheaper to buy something or even get for free =)
at least way cheaper than investing into hardware =DDD

jorgensen, you aware you can roll your own HDRIs in Octane, right? Set up a nice outdoor scene with some trees, landscaping etc and render with spherical camera.
