Any way to make the render ball scene in the Octane material editor available as an OBJ, FBX, or ABC download so plugin-in users can do material tests in their DCC app of choice? That way all Octane users could share material images in a familiar visual format.

Because I have 180+ GPU processers in 16 tweaked/multiOS systems - Character limit prevents detailed stats.
Hehe =) rhis would be nice =) want to have that mesh for a while =)
You can unpack it. The geometry is stored as OBJ/MTL files.riggles wrote:Thanks Abstrax. I'm not at my workstation, but can standalone export to a format DCC apps can use, like FBX or Alembic? I can't do much with an ORBX file otherwise.abstrax wrote:That's the material preview scene we use:

Does Octane currently have the ability to directly manipulate the geometric forms and spacial relationships (i.e., the 3D coordinates and other 3D object data/geometry) found it OBJ files? If Octane doesn't currently have that ability, can Octane be given that ability? If Octane can be given that ability, can Octane be given the ability to learn from a suitable data set how to manipulate the 3D object data in ways we humans may perceive to be artistically pleasing forms? I'd like to be able to just press on a "Make Nice Image button" & instantly create and render nice image variations, based on what I've created in the past. No kidding intended. I ask this in keeping with the theme of 2015 GTC GPU Conference - Deep Learning.
Wouldn't it be great if Octane could be taught to learn something new throughout each day.riggles wrote:... . Great. Learned something new today~

Sorry for the silly question, but how can I unpack on ORBX file on OSX? What kind of container type is it? I've tried changing to ZIP and RAR and unpacking, but no luck.abstrax wrote:You can unpack it. The geometry is stored as OBJ/MTL files.
