Many 3D Applications these days store previous renders with all information and data. This lets you go back to old renders and review them or re-save them should you need to. This would be especially useful for comparing different kernel tests or lighting changes without saving different files and remembering to log all the relevant settings.

Modo has a very nice implementation of this:

I'm not sure if this would be implemented per-plugin or what, but it's something I think every Octane user would benefit from.

in standalone the rendertargets are pretty useful for this

I set up different targets with different kernels, imager wtc with a copy of the mesh and i can switch betweens scenes or review older scenes

i would need some sort of quick "view last saved" render option/bullet added to a rendertarget :)
