I've been playing with displacement until I noticed that octane shader/generators are not working with the displacement unless I'm missing something out completely. I've attached an example which uses octane noise under the displacement shader (for displacement tab of the material). Result: unsuccessful.
I've tried the same with checkers as well, same results.

Yes displacement only works with images.

As far as I know it's possible with C4D native noise in the Octane Displacement.
*edit* although where C4D renders noise loopable over a surface, octane shows a line. When you drop a C4D noise displacement over a cube, all sides come loose.

It would be nice if we could use octane noise with octane material displacement.
Yes would, it's not a matter of plugins. We are highly depend to renderer, and it's a limitation on this side.
