I keep getting a refreshing Octane Mateials Dialog when working with the plugging? Is there a way to cut down on this dialog? Is it because I have a mixture of modo overrides and standard modo materials in the scene? Should all of my materials have an Octane Override?

Hi Carter - pls see the "Performance" section of the manual page at http://render.otoy.com/manuals/Modo/?page_id=35.

well after reading and re reading the performance section I think I might be a bit confused. In my scene I have around 25 material and each one has its own Octane Override. However when I am editing a material in the Octane Setup node view things I am still getting way to many "Refreshing Octane Materials dialogs. If I disconnect a pin on a falloff node the dialog appears. If I create a new RGB node the dialog appears. If I try to edit an RGB color the dialog appears.

Hi Carter - would it be possible to send me the scene pls? Then I can take a closer look.

Paul I seemed to narrow down an issue. Someone posted before about the "refresh" dialog appearing only when a Texture Environment is used. I can confirm that this is the case. I have 18 materials all with an Octane Override. If I have the Texture Environment set and simply remove a bump pin on one of the Octane materials I get a refresh. How if I do the same thing with Daylight I get no refresh dialog. It is almost like it is trying to reload the HDRI that is set in Modo?

Hi Carter - how big (disk file size) is the HDR file pls? Is it on a network drive?
EDIT: I haven't been able to produce this issue. Could you pls send me a sample scene which demonstrates this problem?
Thanks

It happens here as well!
if i change it to physical sky, the refreshing dialog goes away!
Thank you, this was killing me!

What did you change the environment FROM? (ie. what was the environment when you were getting the refresh dialog?). If it was Environment Texture, what was the size of the HDR/EXR?if i change it to physical sky, the refreshing dialog goes away!
No one has sent me a scene where this dialog pops up, so I'm guessing a resolution is not important?

I get the same message on all my scenes, I have no idea where the problem comes from. I have mixed materials, both Modo and Octane override. The refresh windows takes forever. Every time I change a setting in the shader tree the window pops up. This is a painful waste of time when doing production work. Please help.
Thank you in advance!
