Well here we go. Oculus came in yesterday. What can I do with octane? Really want to start rendering some panos. Any tutorials or input on how to accomplish this. Just have to jump in sometimes.

Tried some of the apps, what a great experience.

Start with stereo panos - we will be announcing more VR news in a few weeks.

Sounds awesome. I will try that. What are you viewing them in? I am trying out this LiveViewRift but it is really laggy, and for some reason I cant get the stereo panos to load right.. I will keep trying but this lag is really killing me..

I use Kolor player at the moment. Works like a charm. Easy drag and drop interface.

For setting up oculus correctly, try messing with nvidias vsync settings. Can´t remember now what they were supposed to be set at and I am not at my work computer.. but that is one of the important settings for lag / juddery free oculus.

Kolor player only supports mono panoramas, not stereo.

Stereos works fine. Choose menu - "oculus rift" --> "over/under" or "side by side".

No, what it does it simply duplicates the mono image. It doesn't support actual stereo images.

I found this one, that actually supports stereo panos. I'm going to test it now.

Nope.

"To generate a stereoscopic video, we need to render the videos separately, one for the left eye and one for the right eye.

Use Kolor Eyes Desktop and an Oculus Rift device to watch the result."

It supports stereo. My early video tests in stereo very quite horrible, but with stills, especialy in this Otoys spherical girnormous side by side resolution 12288x3072, it works fine. Little distortion when looking down..

However, krpanos cubic support sounds quite interesting. Altough, I have no idea how to set krpano up, after quick look.
