Hi I'm a newbie to octane I've just purchased a copy, all is great love it, but I have a few question which I wonder if someone could answer :

1. Does octane work well with two different GPU cards I currently have a Quadro K4200 card but was wondering if I could put an extra GTX card in ( any recommendations on render solutions also) ?

2. How would I create a lamp bulb light for interior lighting I see an octane light in the plugins ?

3.does the render passes only work in light wave 2015 ?

Thanks for your help

Hi,

Yes, you can use a second GPU for rendering (or to help in rendering if used with your main GPU) without problems. The only issue is that the GPU memory available for Octane is the memory of the GPU with less RAM. Currently the best GPUs for rendering are the GTX 780/780ti, the GTX 980 and the Titans.

The Octane plugin has a custom light source that can be used to configure the scene lighting, but you can also apply an emission material to any object and use it for lighting (in fact Octane doesn't have light sources, even the Octane light source available in the plugin uses geometry+emission material to build the light source).

The render passes feature works with any LW version. The only important feature not available for LW 11.6 is the FiberFX hair rendering.
