DMM is providing a generic physics solution that will work through the ORBX Render Graph, much like script nodes do now inside Octane and supported 3rd party plug-ins.
If you want to use the cloud edition, ask FuzzyBro for an invite to https://orc.otoy.com/.
Brigade, Light Fields, UE4 integration and other extensions to the ORBX Render Graph will come online through the cloud service - it's not just for rendering images and animation.

linvanchene,
Theses are the reasons I've moved to modo - great and powerful for modelling, animation and simulation. I was confused with exporting and re-positioning my objs inside the standalone. Now I have everything in one place, even sculpting - although I still find zbrush unmatched. All is there - the best sub div engine, uv tools, sculpting, painting, particle systems, retopology, simulation.
I just tried it and love it. Just give it a shot.

I suppose by engine you're implying the current Octane Kernel? One size is hard to fit all when it comes to some sort of all spanning 'engine'.
I'm a bottom feeder in this market. I just goof around with Daz. It was quite a leap for me to spend $550 cdn for some software. (Loving it by the way.) In order for there to be some singular engine for game to rendering production, something has to happen to the cost of that engine. As in free or nearly so. It would also need to be opened up so that it is standard in some way. (Kernels would be provided with all NVidia cards for free?) That would drive OTOY to providing software other than just its main rendering engine which it already is doing with plugins.
Daz Studio currently gives its software away for free in order to sell models. This tactic appears to be working.
I have also noticed more and more gaming licenses being offered.
