Very interesting but 12GB? Bit too much, bit too soon? =) though I wouldn't be against that =D
anyway, looking forward for any news at GTC (or even earlier =)

Glimpse,
Did you notice mem. on the other side of pcb? Will a backplate be enough to cool it?

Yeah, & I think unless You're going to OC like insane =)smicha wrote:Glimpse,

it should be enough to cool them down..
my 670 SC from EVGA has half of it's vRAM on the back side.
the backplate comes a bit worm, but not too much.. =)
the problem is, what if I don't want that backplate?
(in let's say, aircooled multi GPU situation)

Quadro K6000 already has 12GB of VRam!

So what? =) 2x Kepler GK210 based Tesla K80 has 24GB (2x12GB). Do You know it's price? 5000$ (Your mentioned K6000 - 4000$ at least..even if it's based on the same gk110 that 780Ti or TitanBlack are & in reality that QUADRO is probably even slightly slower to keep temperature down =)Andreas.visjon wrote:Too soon?glimpse wrote:Very interesting but 12GB? We are talking here about GTX cards 'cos Quadros & Teslas doesn't make sence (for OctaneRender at all..), unless You have too much money to blow (just to show You're a "PRO") or need that extra vRAM so much that would like to overpay 4-5 times for the same rendering performance.
in GTX space nVidia still has plenty of space to fill before stepping to 12GB cards, unless they would reeally like to jump over their red competitor, offering something 'insanely' tempting (though even if they does that, I wouldn't expect price to be reachable - like they done with TitanZ at launch with "mere" 3000$ price tag..)

In the article they are talking about Quadro M6000, ("This is probably the same card we saw in GPU-Z database, the Quadro M6000.")
so why i am wrong to compare it with the Quadro K6000?
