As CES2015 is over, we can take a look something interesting presented. One of the most attractive things for me was Corsairs AIO bracked for reference design 7xx GPUs (Maxwell flavour is comming too, but I guess they are waiting for other, lower end SKUs, to maximise compatability).
Overall it's not something that would change the custom loop, but in some cases (when You have only one or two GPUs) it's worth taking a look (purelly from price perspective). Nice thing is that they managed to squeeze entire solution into dual slot spacing (unlike g10 from NZXT, that requires 3slots).
Reusing blower type fan from Your card (dropping it's speed to minimum would also minimise noise output) with aluminium bracket, acting as a giant heatsing, cools Your VRAM & more important VRMS (unlike DIY solutions) - in some case VRM might get hot as Your GPU core under load.

Because I have 180+ GPU processers in 16 tweaked/multiOS systems - Character limit prevents detailed stats.
Would love to see this for the Titan Z. That would allow some mITX single watercooled GPU workstation options

I'll write a piece about that soon, as lately got an ask to pick parts-list for something very small!
(It definitely ain't going to be cheap, but mITX mobo, TitanZ, with EKs waterblock, small pump, rad extras - it's technically possible =) & there are great cases like NCASE for such builds =) though You might argue 240 is bit too little to could this beast =) but..we are not for breaking work OC records - just to be able to fit monstrous power inside as small footprint as possible =)
I didn't notice any rendering improvements when I overclocked my Asus 970 STRIX. By default it tends to stay below 65C even while rendering. The fan rarely runs.

First of all there's no point of OCing lower end parts - DCUII Cooler on STRIX card is an overkill for Maxwell based 970 that don't produce so much heat to be throttled down..
On Kepler based cards (that this bracket is targeted) the that plays important role. By Boost2 technology OverClock is tied to temperature target..- that means if You have let's say 4xGPUs & put them all under full load..Your cards start throttling down as much as 10-15% to keep heat under control.
Now if You put all of them under water let's say You can gain 20-25% (so total difference is very big..-as much as 30-40% of Measured performance) That's a long topic on it's own & I'll cover with Sebastian (a.k.a. Smicha) on a long article (~6000+ Words & tons of pictures) based on his personal rig, soon to be posted on my site.

I just didn't see any increase in Path Trace benchmark with my STRIX when overclocking. So I'm kinda wondering how much of this is necessary.
My PC is also my desktop PC so I like it quiet. On the other hand I'm not adverse to cranking the fans if I get something for it, hence my question. When running Reality, the CPU\water cooler is quiet too, but if I crank the fans until its a tornado in there, I get a noticeable improvement (50%).
I'm planning to add 2 more Asus STRIX 970s for rendering. I guess that for the modest price of $400 cdn a pop, I'm good. I only render for recreation. I'm just curious because its good to know where your dollars are better spent.

we'll it seems PT marks directly correlate to clock speeds You're running. it's not necessary, at all..In my case (using only card or two in a rig) I'd go for that jsut for one reason, to minimize noise output: running 240 or 280 rad from my Titan with low spinning TitanBlack would give me way lower noise compared to it's stock cooler & probably I could keep it running at 1200MHz rather than seeing how it drops to 800-900MHz depending on how fast I run my case fans..So I'm kinda wondering how much of this is necessary.

in the end it depends..personally I wouldn't cool anything only the top-end chip (like gk110, used on 780,780Ti,Titans, Blacks & Zs) for performance reasons..as water-cooling might be costly move, depending on the parts You choose..but if You do that right..You that might be a pure joy =)I'm just curious because its good to know where your dollars are better spent.

I think there's room for a few articles on more modest systems rather than the Über machine arms race. Many folks have no idea whether they want their case pressure to be positive or negative. Do they know the risks to adding multiple graphics cards to power and ventilation?

They are coming too =) One featuring Rappets system(s) - basically plain simple layout with extra slots in between to allow GPUs to breath..-2xTitanBlacks + Z seams to be a nice layout if You want 4xGPUs in a single case.Hydra wrote:I think there's room for a few articles on more modest systems
