I am probably missing something simple here, but seeing as this is the first time I am testing even using Gen/Gen2 fingures I am at a loss, I have looked through the forum and looked at the shaders, but I cant see what is going wrong, havent seen anything in the octane log, but due to time restrictions I havent had a lot of time to check, was wondering if anyone here is or has used Gen/Gen2 shaders and could offer some advise.

As soon as I can test I will post any logs should errors arise.

I said I would never use Genesis, but time marches on and you either have to adopt or get left behind :?

I also ran into this issue, but the problem with me is that the skins are already black within Carrara.
When I have a working skin it works fine without problem and changes with Octane.
I thinks this comes from the different UV-Maps a G2 character can be used with.

for me if I load a Gen/Gen2 character the shader is fine, and all shows as it should, as soon as I change it using a mat that came with the character, then it goes black and that is without me telling Octane to convert it to an octane shader, will try later but will convert the character to octane shaders first, just finished doing a really good image with it so am a little pre-occupied with that atm :D

I need more specifics. What character are you loading first? Gen base, Akio 5, or what? Then what mat are you applying next? I need to know exactly what you are doing to reproduce this. It could be you are switching UVs when you apply the new mat.

As I said I will provide full logs when I get into some testing, was just wondering if anyone was having the same issue before I reported it, although at this time I have only tried with one character and that is Lilth 6, and I applied the black lips and orange eyes from the package, I didn't load any other character

I am soon to be heading to bed, and will give full log from Octane in the morning :)

The problem is that you are trying to use DAZ materials with Carrara. They do not always translate well. The Lilith Makeup textures in particular do not translate at all, hence the black face. This has nothing to do with the Octane plugin. There are a set of Carrara shaders available for Lilith 6 that translate to Octane much better. http://www.daz3d.com/dp-lilith-6-carrara-shaders

In the end you may want to cook your own Octane shader to take advantage of SSS and such.
