Can any of our awesome devs from the Octane Render Team possibly update us on the progress on the promised "Out of Core" rendering feature, thats on your roadmap for V2?

I'm currently considering buying additional graphics cards for my rendering setup, so it would be really nice to know if you guys plan on implementing this feature soon. GTX cards with 6GB VRAM is much more expensive than the 3GB versions, so it would mean a lot budget-wise to just buy a cheap 3GB 780 instead of the more expensive Titan Z that has 2x 6GB...

When did they say they'd do this? Or was it just speculation?

This would be really useful. Or at least a smart way to split up big scenes so they could be rendered and then comped back together in Nuke (or photoshop).

Yes I wondered that too, Any news on this would be very useful. I just bought another 780 6GB card but it'd rather buy 780Ti-s if i would know i won't miss VRAM so much.

Thanks for any possible info OTOY DEVs :)

Out-of-core textures will be released with the next development release. Please be aware that they come with a performance penalty (if you use them).

sure, some render slowdowns are expected (but still better than no render at all when VRAM is spent ;)).

Thanks for info abstrax, i appreciate :).
