]Here's a little Octane Render test project I've been working on for fun. A CCCP architecture style sauna. In a cold nordic environment. Sigurd Lewerentz inspired glass facade with his kind of bare window sockets.

I'm totally in love with Octane but have a lot to learn. Render times are amazing.

Not quit happy with my snow material. Have seen nice ones created by Grant Warvick. Anyone got some tips for me?

There should really be some weathering on the concrete structure as well. Could do it painting wise, but would love to do that with the dirt shader. But just downwards. Like vraydirt. Tips?

Hi Martin,

it looks pretty good but if you´re not happy yet, maybe this post will help you.

Love the looks so far, Martin! Framing, lighting looks very good!

I'm not sure if that exists now but at least on older versions using dirt might slow down render a bit, so sometime using paintOver might give You better speed (maybe that's been resolved, I'm not sure, 'cos usually I prefer to make as simple mat as possible doing all dirt pass while making texture in PS) - though, this might be an interesting fact for You.

just an idea: adding a bit of a condensation on the glass would bring some extra details.
& don't forget steps - seems the bottom of the door is way too high =)

I've seen Warwicks thread. Nice snow material but his node screen dump just tells me that it is quit complex. Not how to achiev it.

The name Katzenwaffe is a result of watching too many wwII documentaries combined with an almost obscene facination of cats. ;)

Thanks.

Thanks Glimpse!

Steps coming up. And condensation/frost on the corners of window could be cool.

I'm painting the dirt.

GREAT job on the frosty window. Nice! A night shot could be cool too, showing a person inside, just a thought. The images look great.

I don't like the fake DoF, it ruins what could be a very good photographic rendering.
