WARNING: This version has had limited testing. Use at your own risk!

Changes in 2.14.0058
  • Integrated with Octane SDK 2.14
  • Added new Polygon Side shader. (2.14)
  • Support saving new Coherent Ratio attribute. (2.14)
  • Picker is fixed in this version (2.14)
Changes in Version 2.13.0057
  • Integrated with Octane SDK 2.13.
  • Added support for new render pass and info channel options (2.13)
  • Added Backdrop support (Color, Bi-Gradient, or Texture Map).
  • Added new Image Save options that allow the backdrop to be saved with the image.
  • Added animation option to specify file type to generate including file types that include the backdrop.
ATTENTION: This version is based on Octane 2.14. That means you need to update your NVIDIA graphics drivers to at least version 344.x

I only just got around to upgrading to the latest version - quick question, I am probably being thick but I added a Backdrop in Carrara and couldn't see it in the Octane Render Viewport, is there something extra that I need to do?

Yep, you need to enable the Alpha channel in the Kernel settings.

Not unless you know of a free PSD encoder that I can use.
