Today i wanted to try out the network rendering feature. The relevant machines in the LAN are DHCP and sharing files works fine. I guess i have to set some firewall rules for network render to work properly since the network preferences window on the master machine stays empty. Any ideas how to set this up? On the slave pc there is only the octane for Lightwave demo installed.

Thanks in advance for any hints!

To configure the native Octane network rendering you need to install Standalone in the render node and set up the slave daemon. But the most important issue is that you need an additional Standalone license for it.

It is better to try to run the network configuration from the Standalone before try to use it in the LightWave plugin.

Here you have some docs to begin with network rendering:

I thought i read that no additional license is required for network rendering. At least not the standalone. I am going to purchase another octane for lightwave license for my second machine soon. Did i miss something? :?

Thanks for the docs you posted, i will study them now.

Yes, you need a Standalone license for each render node. If you buy a new combo license (standalone+LW plugin) for your second machine, you will be able to use network rendering between your two machines using the new license.

I thought the poll would reset if I changed anything but it didn't.
