Hi Guys,

Creating a lot of realistic fabric and other "cloth" like materials need falloff node and bump/normal to work together ,
This seem not to be the case with the latest prebuild,
are there any plans to make them play nicely in future releases?
Thanks,

Mikel.

you can use falloff to derive a mix material

Thanks manalokos,
yes of course, I am hooking usually to a texture mix or material mix, still, the falloff wont be affected by the bump/normal on the shader,Cheers,
Mikel.

So I had a quick look further and things are a bit more worrying...

It seem that also the IOR Reflectivity Fresnel response is also ignoring the bump of the glossy shader,it works as expected with displacement but not with bump, at least in the latest build release.
Just to be clear, the IOR instead of using the perturbed normals (surface normals+bump) is using just the surface normals to dictate the reflectivity values , which is not good.

This may be tricky to spot in some renders, as the reflectivity direction is altered by the bump correctly. But the shader wont be/look right.

So at the moment neither the falloff node or the IOR of the glossy shader uses the bump to get correct values.

Is this a bug or current limitation of the render?
