I rendered my first animation assignment at school using LightWave and Octane. And there's something bugging me about it.
The first couple of seconds it looks like the ball doesn't have any motion blur as it comes into the picture. Only when the camera starts sliding to the right, the motion blur appears, after a bounce or two.

Is this a bug? Or did I do something wrong with the settings?

The animation is a cache files from Maya, using DP Motion Designer plugin to read the cache files.

I did not have multipass motion blur switched on.

I believe you need to have MB set to photoreal rather than classic OlaHaldor.
Looks like it only takes the ball's motion into account once the camera starts moving , which is after the first few frames.
The cache files should be just fine.

I am not sure what could be the problem. It is hard to say without the scene. First thing we can check is if the MB is rendered without this problem using the native LightWave engine, to discard a problem in the scene or in the motion files.

If in LW all works fine, then we are going to be sure that the problem is in Octane.

If you want to send to me the scene, I can test it here without problems.

I'll send you the scene when I get home in a couple of hours.

I'll also see if it produces the same type of motion blur in the native renderer.

I have found one problem in the motion blur of deformations in "Update scene" mode.

It is not going to be easy to fix in this build, so for this kind of animations currently you need to render the scene in "Reload scene" mode. You only need to change this parameter in the render target root node options panel. The render time is going to be a bit longer, but all should work fine.

I will try to fix this problem as soon as possible for a future release.

Ok ... the problem was easier to fix than I was thinking ;)

It should be fixed for the next plugin build. Test it with your scene to see if all is working fine now in update mode.
