Hi,
I am currently getting the artifact below when using displacement. I believe I have found the source of the problem to be with the way the model is triangulated upon bringing it into the standalone. I have posted this in the revit forum as I have exported it through the revit plugin. Can any body give me some help with this issue.

Hi - firstly, try adjusting the ray epsilon - it may help.

On to your issue....these artifacts occur when you have very large polygons and very small amounts of displacement. So either increasing the displacement amount, or reducing the size of the polygons will generally resolve the issue (although I realise that the second option is not viable from within Revit). If you are using very small displacement amounts - consider using a bump map rather than displacement map.

If none of the above help, pls send me an ORBX version of the scene and I will take a closer look.

Hi Paul,
This seems to occur regardless of any ray elipsion settings or the rendering type, pt, pmc, dl, etc. Also I have tried all combinations of height and offset displacement properties. It is definitely a problem with the displacement, as when I remove the displacement from the material this stops. Could it be the complexity of the displacement map? I now realise this happens on any objects that have been triangulated(as in the info channel picture) and have displacement applied to them.

Hi Chris - may I suggest you export the scene to ORBX and post it in the general Octane 2.11.1 Standalone thread - then the Otoy devs can investigate the root cause.
