Hi, I'm an architecture student, and I'm currently using revit, autocad and 3dsmax edu versions. I'm planning to give the octane render demo a try, and if I find that I can easily include it in my workflow, I'll buy it. I was wondering if it is possible to update a scene in octane with updated models after previously working on applying shaders to the said model. Or would I have to restart from scratch if I need to change anything geometry-related? It would be nice if I could exclude 3dsmax from my workflow altogether, but I guess that's not possible, I can't find an obj export option from revit. Also, can you change mapping coordinates from inside octane? Scaling and rotating textures would be great, and a simple uvw box would probably be even greater :) I'm not exactly sure how revit exports its texture coordinates (i guess the workflow would be something like fbx export - import to max - export to obj)

I'd also like to know how much time is left till the full version goes live. I don't think I can afford it :P Are we looking at days or weeks? I want to know how much time i have to decide on whether to buy octane or not.

If I have any more questions I'll probably make a new post; you can expect some first impressions by the end of the day.

Thanks,

man, get yourself a blender, its free and its SO powerfull program. U will need some time to get the workflow in blender and first time when i installed i deinstalled it right away. :)
I m using archicad + blender (photoshop 3d texturing, uv export from blender) + octane and it works great
u cuold use it easily with revit.

If you install blender, first thing that you will need to do is to adjust
VIEW ROTATION - TURNTABLE / it will make u better navigation in 3d /
Use videos as tutorials / youtube /
blender site
u will need sometime but if u succseed u will be able to do perfect texturing in blender and export it to render with blender exporter to octane
Dont waste your time, get your self licence of Octane and live your drawings !
If you need any help in your transition, i will try to help you cos some good people on this forum helped me so its my turn now :)
respect for madcoo ;)

I messed around octane a bit, and i really like it :D It seems you can do just about everything with the node interface. I bought it last night. Can't wait to get my hands on my beta key.
