OctaneRender™ for Blender plugin. Windows x64 version.

The bundle consists from two parts:
1. OctaneRender™ Server
2. Blender - OctaneRender™ edition.

The first part (server) should be run on the same computer as the second one. To stop the server - just right-click its icon in the tray.
After the server is run - you can start rendering (or open a rendered view) from inside Blender. Before the very first rendering you should fill in the server address (only 127.0.0.1 at the time), login and password (your license key info) to activate the server. After the first rendering the server will remember this activation info, and you will not need to enter it again.

You should use only OctaneRender materials inside Blender scenes - the plugin knows nothing about Blender specific materials and textures (about any Blender nodes, generally speaking).

FIXES AND NEW FEATURES SINCE LAST RELEASE
  • Fixed bug: material ID mapping was shown differently after every full frame refresh.
  • Fixed bug: material preview icon rendering caused crash.
  • Fixed full material preview scene.
  • Shader Groups now work if connected to Octane nodes.

After starting OctaneServer it will take some time before the LiveDB tree and LiveDB material previews will be available from Blender - as OctaneServer caches the LiveDB data from remote server right after starting. But only the materials groups tree will be re-cached every time after server start, LiveDB material preview images will be cached only once - so only the very first OctaneServer start will need some more time before LiveDB tree will be available in Blender.

Btw JimStar could you please update the nodes names to correspond to 2.X Standalone. Like Grayscale image instead of flat and so on.

Thank you for your hardwork! Just saw the Mac version and I'm hugely impressed with the amount of work you do. Thanks for being awesome!

Also if someone could answer a question I have:

What nodes in blender can work with the octane plugin? Can colour ramp be used? I'm contemplating on getting this add on in the future:

But I don't quite know if any of the nodes for it will work with Octane. Would love to use this for leafs.

Hi!

I've just installed this update and it seems I'm getting very dramatic dispersion from all my Specular shaders. In a new scene, creating a mesh and assigning the default Specular creates dispersion and the coefficient seems to have no affect on it.

Hi Jim. With this latest version, glass is rendering weird. It's not transparent, and it's got all these rgb dots. Please check the windows in this image.

And this is how it was rendering glass in the previous verison:

Did something change in the material setup for glass? I'm using materials from the materials LiveDB.

thanks! :D
ps. One last question, is there a way to enable an architectural camera in octaneblender? (to get vertical lines to render without perspective distortion).

Set X-rotation of the camera to 90 degrees, then adjust the focal length and Y value of lens shift to your liking. Make sure that Octane camera distortion is 0.
