in the sketchup capture image there are two cylinders with the same default material: "push pull" on the left  and "follow me" on the right side. 
In the render viewport the right cylinder ("follow me" method) has a non-smoothed edge, why?

Right click on the mesh - octane mesh - shading and subdiv. - load vertex - false.
