So I've been making 360 panos for a while now. I love them. They add incredible depth to just a photo. It gives the viewer a sense of place and is fun to look around and explore.
I was excited to see the Octane camera can render out a panoramic image. I've tried it recently with a test scene and it works out great! [http://goo.gl/IXu0DP]
I was able to upload it to google's photosphere site and get an interactive pano of a 3D environment and share it with people.
But now I want to go a step further: Animated Panos. I'm thinking of a scene that is maybe 30s - 1min. long, and seamlessly loops. This gives the viewer enough time to look around and notice little details. It sounds like a lot of fun, but I'm not sure how to go about creating an animated panorama. I was thinking rendering out an image sequence of rectilinear renders from Octane, but then I need some way of playing them back while wrapping them in the panoramic view.
I did notice that I could export out of C4D a Quicktime VR render. Anyone know if the panoramic lens from Octane, combined with the Quicktime VR export from C4D would achieve what I want? Or for that matter, does anyone have any other ideas on exporting an animated spherical panorama? Thanks!

sound interesting, but I could just imagine how fast internet You should have in order to load higher resolution pano images + 1 min - that's a lot of data =) but it would be nice to see the progress! =)
there are players out there that use a flash shell to display and warp the equirectangular movie file into an interactive shot.
I use Krpano's player for 360 videos, but there are plenty that will work. 1920x960 .mp4 is a decent resolution that loads well.

You use krPano?! I just tried out the demo today, but couldn't figure out how in the hell to get it to work. They have zero documentation on how to make a video pano. But they have a demo on their website. Tell me, how do you create a video pano with krPano? Whenever I drop my rectalinier video onto one of the droplets, in the terminal it always says "unknown file type".zackyd wrote:there are players out there that use a flash shell to display and warp the equirectangular movie file into an interactive shot.
