General interest item for bored forum visitors...

China has the worlds most powerful supercomputer.
It includes 7168 M2050 Tesla GPU.

By my rough estimate if an Octane render takes about 8 mins presently on a GTX460 - 224 cores - then this produces the same renders at 24 frames/sec assuming perfect scaling.
This is impressive but slightly underpowered I guess for the true Octane enthusiast...

Now what might get our attention is say the equivalent of 57,000 Tesla which would produce something with decent samples and size @24fps.
We tell them to come back when they have something worth showing us ;)
Maybe 5 years time?...

Cheap solution indeed ! They could have used M2070 instead ! :lol:
