Hello everyone,

I'm using Modo 801 and Octane Plugin 2.05.

When the Setup Window is opened (with only preview/render everything is fine) I'm having a small lag when changing from zoom to rotate or span, span to rotate, etc. Looks like the camera is locked and suddenly it gets unlocked. It is very fast, and it is not a big deal, but it happens.

It is just me or someone else is facing this small problem?

Thank you very much.

Yep I have it. it's driving me nuts on some scenes it is only a small delay and on other scenes it's a lot bigger delay. If I close the octane setup window it goes away. The delay is also there when just the octane render view port is open, it is a lot smaller delay though.

Hi - I just tried to replicate this, but couldn't. Are you able to provide your exact workflow (ie. keystrokes) to make this happen, or a short screen recording? Thanks

Hello Paul, thank you very much for your quick reply.

Here is a video showing what is happening. I start with the Setup Window closed and then I open it (22s) and leave it open at another display.

If you need any other information, please let me know.

Thank you again!

I can't reproduce this - although the lag is quite subtle - so maybe my scene is not big enough.

1) Are you running the latest version of the plugin?
2) Are you using a single graphics card for both rendering and as the display adapter (shouldn't matter - but handy to know)
3) Does it happen on the simple scene which just a cube?
4) Had you opened the viewport prior to opening the Setup window?

I have made a minor code adjustment which might correct the lag in the next release, but I cannot test it, because I am not getting the lag.

Can you also pls try the new TEST release (2.6.0.24) and let me know if it improves this issue.

Hi Paul, here are my answers

1) Yes. I uninstalled version 2.05 and the lag was gone. I installed version 2.06 and the lag came back.
2) I'm using 2 GPUS (660ti and 760)
3) Yes. It happens even without any object in the scene.
4) No. The strange thing is that with the Viewport opened, there is no lag. (Device Priority for the display gpu enabled)

Thanks!

Interesting. I'm getting no lag. The solution to 90% of modo plugins is to delete your Modo801.cfg file (you will need to re-authenticate the plugin). Pls do that and tell me if it helps.

Also, what other plugins do you have installed?

Hi Paul,

I uninstalled all plugins, scripts, configs and also Modo completely and the lag still there. (tested in 801 SP2 and 701 SP5)

It's not a big deal and it doesn't bother me that much, it is just something I realized one of these days after I closed the Setup Window. Things just got smoother. I also realized that it happens only if I do fast moves.

Hi Paul
Just updated and Im still getting the lag.
I disabled all my kits in modo, didn't make a difference.
When I close the setup window modo goes back to navigating as smooth as silk.
What I mean by navigating is if I go from rotating the view port to panning or zooming with the short cut keys there is a noticeable delay where your cursor will move but nothing happens on screen. About 1 second later the screen movement will catch up to your move movement and all will move fine until you switch to a different mouse move (panning to rotating). When you let go of the shortcut key you can see the delay in the cursor as the symbol for the cursor does not change back to the default symbol for modo for about 1 second.
If I rotate or move etc around the scene with the onscreen icons there is no delay.
As soon as I close the setup window the delay goes away.
Hope that makes sense.
