Does the Poser Plugin 2.x work with the Standalone 1.2?
Technically the 1.20 version of the poser plugin should work along side the 1.20 only student standalone license. You would need to purchase a full 2.x poser plugin license, but you will only be able to use version 1.20. You would get no updates, no bug fixes or support for this version either since work is currently done on the 2.x versions. You can find the old 1.20 install on the poser plugin forum. http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=45
Sorry, this is a little tricky so i will try to explain a bit better!homerice wrote:Hi FooZe,
I went to the link you provided but all those old version of plugins prior to OctaneRender® for Poser (Windows) 1.50 [STABLE] are obsolete. Is there a way that I can get or purchase the version 1.2 poser plugin?
The only poser license you can purchase is a 2.x one, but these are backwards compatible with 1.x octane versions.
Usually you would purchase a combo and have a 2.x standalone and 2.x plugin license. When you install the plugin it will ask for the plugin license, and then the standalone one.
In your case you have a 1.20 standalone license. If you were to purchase a 2.x poser plugin license, you could install the 2.0 poser plugin, enter the 2.x plugin license, and then the 1.20 standalone license. At this point it would tell you that this license will not work with version 2.x.
If you were to purchase a 2.x poser plugin license only, then install the 1.20 version of the plugin, then enter your 2.x plugin license and your free 1.20 standalone license, it should work.
You would need to find the 1.20 (obsolete) forum post and download this old version from the links inside the post.
Hope that makes sense?
Thanks
Chris.

I would advice you to buy the 2.x standalone license along with the poser plugin license.
Everything else would be a waste of money. If you are using Poser, I suppose you use displacement mapping, which isn't supported in 1.2, but it is in 2.x.
Just my advice.
