Hi Octane Renderes,

I was trying to render a table lamp but I couldn't get the lampshade right. I try to assign the lampshade with fabric material to make it look a bit translucent so that the light can penetrate through.
However, it looks fake with the sphere glowing. Does anyone have any idea? Thanks :D

Do you use Pathtracing Kernel and an Alpha map for the lampshade ? If not, create an alpha map and try that. Enable Fake Shadows in the material, and alpha shadows in the Kernel.

Hi Roubal,

Thanks for your guidance. The lampshade looks better now. I found the 'fake shadow' in 'specular'.
Because it is fabric so I blurred the material up all the way.

Thanks
