Okay, I've spent two nights on this and now I'm posting in shame. Can someone please show a proper hierarchy for successfully rendering the Trail object in Xparticles 2.5 using Octane? Specifically, I mean that I want to render properly curved trails in Octane that match the preview in the C4D viewport. (The viewport shows nicely curved Trails; when I make a Hair object the child of the Trail object, I can only manage to get straight horizontal lines.)

Currently, I am using the following setup unsuccessfully:
...
-Generator
--Trail
---Hair Object (C4D Material) (Phong Tag)(Octane Material)

(This order pieced together from reading the manual plus the forums plus looking at the demo scenes.)

Any input you guys have would be massively appreciated.

Hey, yea this threw me a bit when I was first playing with it but the solution is pretty simple.

Pretty much how you have set it up, then in the hair object > Hair guides change the 'root' to spline guides and up the point count until happy.

I posted a demo scene at the bottom of this thread...

Thanks ten and aoktar!! I can't believe that I didn't find that previous thread- I spent significant time in the forums and did not come across it, so I apologize for wasting the internet on a question that had already been answered. Really stoked to try out your suggestions when I get home this evening!
