Hi all,

My first render using the SketchUp plugin. Would appreciate any comments. Would love any links to any material creation tutorials

Very nice, like the lighting. Can you tell us how you lit the scene please?

Thanks for your comments. The lighting set up is quite simple.

1) Large emitter in the left hand corner of room casting light onto the back of the left hand chair.
2) Direct sunlight through gloss material for glass with opacity of 0.2
3) Emitter inside the pendant light just to lift the brightness of the material.

My opinion:
1) everything is just too perfect. I would suggest you to add some complexity to materials, like dirt, scratches and other imperfections. very subtle but would break the feeling of cgi perfection
2) image in background is far to crisp, there is no atmosphere in the air, no life. probably adding some Octane glow would increase light's depth and realism.
3) the wall looks too flat, is it a glossy material? though walls don't look glossy, they are, they just have a very high roughness rate :)
4) some post-production would surely help

Good job anyway, it's a very good start for a nice final result!
