I used demo version of the Octane plugin for Rhino (OctaneRender for Rhinoceros) for about 30 minutes. It was enough to stumble upon a few problems:
1. Octane plugin does not render the ground plane.
2. Octane plugin does not render the dots.
3. Semi-transparent materials are opaque.
4. It seems that Octane plugin (directlighting kernel) is not faster than built-in Rhino renderer. This is a show-stopper for me because I need very fast renderer for Bongo animation. I can't afford more than 20 seconds per one rendition, and I do not care about the quality of reflections, refractions, and shades.
