Could it be that the Octane plugin in DAZ is always running in the background, even if I don't use the Octane viewport and the renderer?
Both my 2 GTX cards are running hotter after working in DAZ with the internal 3Delight renderer (I checked the temp in Afterburner).

I also have the Octane plugin for C4D (demo), but the cards don't kick in when I use the internal C4D renderer.

Thanks,
Peter.

Personally, I've not noticed this behaviour. When I close OR to work on a scene my graphics card powers down which I assume is because OR is no longer active. As soon as I open OR's main and viewport windows the graphics card fires up. I have the latest NVidia drivers installed, latest DS release, OR v1.2 plugin, Win 7 x64 and an MSI GTX 780 3GB. OR doesn't work with SLI in case that's relevant but maybe this problem occurs with two or more cards?

Can't say I've had this happen either and I have 2 cards.

If you've been using the CPU renderer for a while, isn't it possible that the general temp. in your case is high, and the GPUs get hot from just sitting there?

Yes, it seems to be my CPU that gets hot, increasing the temp in my case.
