I often used pointlights for vitrines. Are there any parameters for pointlights planned?
Or how can mesh emitting materials / objects used as pointlights?

Well spotlight is not the same as pointlight
You'll have to model your "cone" (light casing), so that the light bounces where you want it (like in RL). Other user achieved good results with this technique - search the gallery.

Yes, that's a limitation. Spotlights could offer all the control inside Octane, while in the present case you have to go back and change geometry... But I fear that spotlights are not easily integrable into Octane physically correct rendering model.

Hey,
if we add tradtional lightsources, we will unfortunately have a very slower engine.
that's why we'd like to focus on are alights only, and maybe include some proxy like types in the near future.
point//spot lights are not physically correct and incorrect lighting, so i think the easy of use vs loss of speed is not worth it...
