Small Q: is it possible to get rid of all the non-octane nodes etc if the renderer is selected to Octane? I'ts more of a cosmetical nature and maybe too annoying/timeconsuming to fix if it is too deep in blenders code. I just manage to sometimes lose myself in the wrong menus and would love for that non-usable stuff to be gone, just masked out in octane mode ... of course its okay if all remains in cycles etc.

Along the same lines: Adding a new material always ends up defaulting to cycles diffuse BDSF ... that could default to octane diffuse?:)

Jimstar has said on several occasions that he wants to change Blender's internals as little as possible. I have a feeling that this would fall into that category unfortunately. It's too bad that Blender doesn't have a good API for this. :(

I would love to get rid of the extra stuff as well. Through I am pretty sure the default cycles diffuse node can be removed by a script or something.

One other thing Jim star. Make loading textures for environments easier. The default blender way is a pain( And sometimes it doesn't even work properly). At least make a script which handles the adding node, new texture stuff automatically. I just want to open the file browser and select the image. that's it :D
