Hi to all,

I use the anaglyphic option to get a feel for how some objects look like in 3D.

But the standard anaglyphic settings in Octane Render are not compatible with the standard anaglyphic glasses (the ones I received with DVDs, books et cetera). E.g. the colors are not standard, and the red glasses are always on the other side.

Is it possible to set them the way I want as a default?

Thanks,
Charles

I have the cheap poster board blue and red glasses and they work with the default v5 settings..

I had to bend the ear straps the opposite way to get them to work with the image, but it looks great.

Hi Andrew,

I don't agree! :-)

This is what I meant: you would have to flip your glasses horizontally (re-bend them).

And the colors are not magenta (blue and red) + green like in Octane, but red + turquoise (blue and green) like in all those cardboard glasses that I have flying around.

Maybe that's why the Octane anaglyphic option is not so popular? ;-)

(By the way, I set the blue and green both to 0.7, because 1.0 is too much).

Furthermore I have a 120Hz screen and the nVidia 3D vision kit, but I read somewhere on the forum that Radiance said an accelerated/optimized dual-cam render option will not come soon (and I fully understand).

So in the meantime I use this great 3DSMax modifier to ease up the process: http://area.autodesk.com/blogs/louis/st ... m_modifier.

It's not that big a deal to render two cameras, although shared resources and calculations would speed it up considerably I guess.

With the fresh 3D TVs in the stores it's not a bad idea to focus on stereo 3D these days...

I have a pair of cardboard glasses with my right eye magenta my left eye green and as I look at Andrews image it pops right out at me.
I am confused as to what color they are meant to be... but those d work. I am just interested if there is something that is supposed to work even better?

Hi Peter,

Of course there are many color combinations possible for anaglyphic images, I just thought red/turquoise (cyan) is the most common standard, but I could be wrong...

I don't think things get better with anaglyphs. For me it's just a great preview, but gives me a nice headache after a few minutes.

If you're interested I would look into the 3D vision kit from nVidia, it's not that expensive.

In order for my image to work, you will need a "blue" filter on the left eye, and a "red" filter on the right eye...

As for as the Nvidia 3D Vision, it requires full a fullscreen Direct X application. It cannot, currently, be used in windowed mode, however it does have a player for stereo video that will play two video streams in stereo.

the best way is to fine tune the colours of the two filter colours,
then save your project.

when you staert a new scene, always start from this file and you'll have the settings reay.
As this is user related, it might be a good idea to add these to the preferences instead.?
