When I was using cinema 4d render I would sometime have items fade away using the composite tag and tell it not to cast shadow on object inside something like a case. Is it possible to do something like this with Octane? I have a mix material that I have something go from Diffuse to specular on the animation but I want the shadows being casted by the casing to also fade at the same time... And ideas or maybe its not possible..

Does animating the transparency channel in the material help or does it give much the same result as the tag?

Worst case scenario you could render the thing twice, once with case + object, and the 2nd pass just with the case, mix in comp. Not ideal perhaps...
