Hi,
Is there a guesstimate for when the plugin for 2.0 for Daz Studio will be released?
I have the plugin for maya and for Daz but I reckon that the Daz one will be more useful....
2.0 plugin for Daz studio - when? (guesstimate)

When I upgraded the blurb said that the upgrade included the v2 plugin and that if it wasn't released yet then a voucher would be included in my account. Does this included v2 of the DAZ plugin? If not then OTOY should have specified this at the time of upgrade.
As for when v2 of the DAZ plugin is released then that will probably be in about two years time judging by current development time scales. We've only just got v1.2 so unless v1.5 is being bypassed in favour of v2 I think two years until v2 is a conservative estimate. Hopefully I'm proved wrong.
Before then maybe someone will devise a way to transfer DAZ scenes to the standalone so we can use the new features in v2.

Why wouldn't it include the DS plug-in, it says one free plugin upgrade, doesn't say from this list of plug-ins.
2.0 sure isn't stable, I've crashed it twice in the last 30 minutes just doing simple things, like switching the environment from HDR to Daylight, boom instance crash.

I read in another thread that only "first-party" plugins (the ones actually developed by Otoy, which, I think, means 3DS, Maya, Blender and probably some other one) get the free upgrade to 2.0 (you only have to pay for the standalone upgrade). DAZ plugin and most other ones are actually developed by freelance programmers in cooperation with Otoy and those will be a paid upgrade.

Found it. Here's the source info from the developer concerning the upgrade price for plugins.

Well, when you upgrade it doesn't say anything about 1st or 3rd party plugins, just says plugins.
I can't view what it says now, as I've already upgraded.

I completely agree with you. The reason I asked is because I had read about this get out clause awhile back and was surprised to see that the upgrade offer claimed to include a free plugin upgrade without mentioning any restrictions. I just wanted to clarify this.SiliconAya wrote:Well, when you upgrade it doesn't say anything about 1st or 3rd party plugins, just says plugins.

I'll be very annoyed if this "special introductory offer" excludes certain plugins when this wasn't mentioned at the time of upgrade. The only reason I upgraded so promptly is because of this offer - with the present stage of the DAZ plugin there would be no other point in upgrading so early on otherwise.

I do hope you're right. I'm yet to buy and missed the voucher part. The way it is presented at the moment, it would be really unfair if it turned out you'd have to pay for the plugin after all.

When you buy the upgrade it states that it includes an upgrade to the relevant plugin (the one in our account) for a limited time. If the v2 plugin isn't released yet then it claims that a voucher for the plugin will be deposited into our account when it's released. Now that I've bought the upgrade I can't access this info any longer because clicking on the upgrade advert just states that the upgrade is no longer applicable (because I've already upgraded.)
Both SiliconAya and I appear to have seen the same information when we upgraded so let's hope it pans out.
