Hi,
I have see that otoy has released octane 2.0.
Just some question about this :
To upgrade the plugin when its ready we must upgrade the standalone right?
If I upgrade the standalone now, does the actual plugin continu to work?
Thank you
Francesco

I think that you can update the standalone without problems. The plugin has it's own libs, and it doesn't need the standalone to work.scratch33 wrote: If I upgrade the standalone now, does the actual plugin continu to work?

Does this mean that ALL plugins are free for a limited time? Lw plugin is not available yet but if people buy into standalone now they will get lw plugin for free?
riggles got the modo plugin for free but that's also third party so does that apply to lw with this limited time deal?

For a limited time, users who upgrade to OctaneRender™ 2 can also upgrade an existing plugin license (first-party or third-party) at no additional cost to make use of an available OctaneRender™ 2 plugin or receive a voucher towards the 2.0 plugin when it’s available...
This means the user must have had a previous v1.x Standalone license and the v1.x plugin license

Sincerely your costumer
Yes, the 2.0 licenses are backward compatible (they work with all 1.x releases as well).

So what's the scoop?
Yeah same with lightwave plugin. I think they will send a voucher by mail when the plugin is actually avail so you can claim it.
If the plugin is not available yet the 'voucher' is stored against your customer account with us. When the plugin license becomes available for upgrade in the future, it should show in the license upgrade page just like the standalone did. Just tick it and if you have a voucher that is unclaimed, it will automatically be used and you will not be charged for the upgrade.
Thanks
Chris.
So in short...just great news, thank you Otoy

Poly

I have Octane 2.0 standalone available in my downloads section. Can I download and use this or do I have to go through the payment process to upgrade the license?
Cheers.

Which license did you upgrade? Only the standalone? I have just put the lightwave 2.x license upgrade live.kostache wrote:I bought 2.0 stand alone upgrade and I've found version 2.0.10 in my LW downloads section. But after installation plug-in refuse to work because of wrong activation data. Whet could I get a right one?
Go to the upgrade page again and you should be able to tick your lightwave license.
Since you upgraded your standalone without upgrading your plugin, it should tell you down the bottom of the upgrade page that you have a 'voucher'.
Click proceed after ticking your LW license and it should automatically use the voucher, upgrade your license and send you an email (no payment).
You need to have both your standalone and plugin license at 2.x to use the 2.0 plugin.
Thanks
Chris.
