I'm unable to use the 1.53.1.6 Revit plugin - after installation, there are no Octane icons on Revit addins tab, also there isn't the .addin file anywhere. I'm using the Revit 2013u3 on win7 x64 ultimate, all my Autodesk apps runs from D: drive, and the demo plugin 1.2 version was running without any errors. 1.2 was uninstalled prior to the install of 1.53.1.6.

The install of the standalone 1.54 x64 was with issues too: the folder and icons only shows to the administrator user.

Thank you for any help.

Hi

The demo version of the plugin conforms the Autodesk Store addin format (so installs into ProgramData\AutodeskAplicationPlugins).

The commercial version (which was released prior to the 'Store' format being an option, and needs to also work with Revit 2012) installs into the Revit executable folder (whereever you specified the installer to install to - ie. Program Files\Autodesk\Revit Architecture 2014), and puts the OctaneRender_for_Revit.addin file into ProgramData\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\2014.

So I assume you installed to the D: drive? Is the OctaneRender_for_Revit.addin in your ProgramData folder?

Also - I highly recommend uninstalling the demo version of the plugin prior to installing the commercial version (so Revit doesn't load any incorrect DLL's).

Hope that helps.

Hi Paul,

There isn't the OctaneRender_for_Revit.addin file anywhere in the D: (or even the C:) drive. The plugin install made only these DLLs under D:\Program Files\Autodesk\Revit2013\Program: OctaneRender_for_Revit.dll, octane.dll, OctaneWrapperR.dll and the octane.dat.

The path C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\2013 show only Autodesk addins, nothing about Octane there either.

It looks like the issue is that OctaneRender_for_Revit.addin has installed somewhere that Revit is not loading. It installs into {commonappdata}\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\2014, where commonappdata is defined at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library ... 85%29.aspx. I suspect for some reason on your particular Windows install this has been changed to a location where Revit does not load from.

I have attached the addin file - which you should be able to copy into ProgramData\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\2014 to get up and running.

My apologies for the hassle you are experiencing. The requirement to cover a number of different version of Revit makes building the installer very challenging, because every new version of Revit changes where the plugin can and cannot be installed.

Thank you Paul, it's working now. My Revit is 2013 version (from building design suite), and the addins directory is as stated before.

Good to hear. I probably need to change the default install folder of the addin file, however yours is the first case where this has been an issue. If it happens to anyone else I will make the change.
