Hello,
This sounds like a dream feature if it turns out.
Could someone please explain to me exactly how this will work? I understand Octane will load textures dynamically, therefore nullifying vram constraints. Is this true? I'm buying cards now and want to future proof. 3gb vs 6gb is significant price jump.
Would this mean that there is now more importance on the pci bus speed on the mobo due to constant transfers? 16x vs 4x?
Also, any idea how far into the dev cycle for 2.x we can expect this?
Thank you
New Feature: Out of core rendering?

It's all speculation at this point but my 2c would be this:
Since one of the features is network render, then obviously there needs to exist some mechanism to transfer data between nodes. If that's true, then maybe, just maybe, a similar mechanism will exist to allow the transfer of data between regular RAM and VRAM.

They said they aim to release version 2.x near the end of this year.JessicaVines wrote:Also, any idea how far into the dev cycle for 2.x we can expect this?
