Using vertex maps to create grunge?

So ben watts has made a great tutorial for c4d were he uses the vertex weight map to basically paint on grunge. here is the link https://vimeo.com/93337566. Is this possible with octane in a similar way with the mix material. Trying to figure out how to define more where I want my grunge and not so random. Thanks for the help.

I didnt' watch this tutorial yet, but as I understand it you should actually use a mix texture with:
-Mat A = principal texture
-Mat B = grunge texture
-As the amount "object" use a B&W image texture as a map for your grunge texture. So you can create this image with photoshop or else, and specify exactly where you want the grunge texture to appear.
