Hello,
I'm using the Lightwave plugin demo version 1.5. So far, very nice.
Anyhow, I wanted to animate a sunset, but I wasn't sure how to (or if I can) make an Octane parameter animate over time in the Lightwave plugin, so I found and tried the "Item Info" node. I was going to use it to read the rotational attributes from a null item in LW and then pass these values into the Octane environmental "sun direction." But I encountered two problems.
1. I think this may be a bug. It did not work as expected, so after some experiments using a logic node to test the value being passed from the Item Info node (by turning the sun on or off accordingly), I discovered that it was passing the item's rotational values in radians instead of degrees. This doesn't make sense, since we don't have the option to choose radians or degrees. I looked for a conversion node, but there wasn't one, so I put together some math nodes to convert it back to degrees. Then I plugged that into the sun direction.
2. It seemed to work at first, moving the sun around much better than before, but at some point it just stopped working, and the sun wouldn't move properly again. Not sure why.
Is this radians-instead-of-degrees a known issue?
Thank you
