Hello ,
I was trying my first render with Octane.
A rendering of an interior restaurant.
Unfortunately the lighting is made of small emitters.
I tried them for the first time and I have a couple of questions:
1 first I couldn't get a similar result to the one in the picture attached with emitters and direct light.
Emicters seems to light a bit the scene in DL, but they don't cast light as they are supposed to.
Do they work with Direct lighting or no?
2 In Pathtracing the behaviours of light is the one expected but after 2 hours (16000 samples)
the pictures is at the level you see.
Is this a normal rendering time or is due to the actual stage of developement or am I doing something wrong?
Thanks

Seems like a long time for that result.
Are the emitters really simple or do they have many polys?
Really simple like a plane will work fastest.

Hey,
Is there a topic yet where people post their sample rates on a benchmark scene?
Just to see the comparision between cards/configurations?

Emitters are not single plane, but they are very simple like 12 poly per emitter (they are half sphere with few sides streched on the y axes). in order to have a better distribution of the light.
hmmm not sure whats happening there.
It would seem to be very noisy for 16000 samples done.
I think radiance would have to give a tech answer for that one.
You checked to make sure there arent any doubles in there or any light covers and reflectors complicating things?

My only suggestion might be to increase their power, and play with gamma curve/exposure.
Seems awfully noisy to me for that many samples from pre 2.3 v5.
