I know this is a basic LW question, but I'm trying to find the best value node to use when driving items that don't have an envelope available by themselves, for example focal depth. I've been through all the nodes and the best I could find was some in the math scalar section, like add, min, max, multiply, etc, and just use one value.

But there has to be some simple value node with two decimals in there somewhere, isn't it? What do you guys use when you need to drive some of these properties? I'm not talking just about the focal depth, I'm talking about any property that doesn't have envelopes available but that can be keyframed by using an input value that in itself can be keyframed.

Thanks

Yes, you can use the Constant nodes. They have the "E" button to animate any parameter.

Thanks, me not knowing much about math terms I didn't realize that scalar is a node with a number and two decimals, exactly what I need.

However, search around these forums, there is a really good way to use a null and the camera location to drive the focal distance. (Can't remember the details) but it's nun here somewhere.
