Hey,
I have installed yesterday the trial of OctaneRender and already experimented.
Currently I work with Cinema 4D and Vray & MaxwellRender to create architectural- and productrenderings / -animations.
I had a few questions regarding the program
• is animation possible with OR, and if so how it works or how it should work.
Do I export the modellingobject and animate it on OR, or can I animate it in Cinema4D and OR reder "only" the final scene?
• I have problems with the textures if I want to give them a depth / bump in the structure, it don`t looks realistic.
Is this point still in development, or I play around with the wrong controllers? Especially for wood it's an important point.
• Are there alpha maps and etc., to have a "easy" postwork?
• English is the international language, but is there also Tuts in German?
Thanks for reply and help!
Greetings
Dave Star

Hi davestar,
I try to give you some answers:
1) you animate in C4D and then the plugin export single frames to Octane, you can chose witch camera to render and other things like DOF and sun position.
2) the bump has been updated with the new beta 1.23 v5, anyway you must use value between 0.1 and 0.2 for a good effect. The best is to use normal map instead of bump map, Octane use that very efficiently .
3) there are alpha maps for partial object masking but I think you are talking about alpha channel. You can do it in C4D, if the camera match, or make another render giving to all the objects a black material and a white background; it's a workaround but works pretty well
4)I don't know, I'm italian
ciao beppe

Thanks for the reply, I will also be some easier to understand.
• alpha channels have also said, I expressed myself wrong
but with respect to animation.
• create animations in C4D. I change out the lights, for example, from day to night and then the lights change to reflect different moods.
Is this possible with OR? For that kind of animation I use Maxwell but if it works on OR too it´s perfect.
I have only seen examples with solar lighting.

Sorry but I have not understand very well... I f you mean rendering in multi-light and create an animation in post like the mxi of m~r, no it's not possible.davestar wrote:• create animations in C4D. Anyway with the same time of a m~r multi-light render you can do hundreds of different octane render instead
