Hello there! Hello Forum!

Is it true, only (one?) UV-Map can be used for the hole 3D-Model?
It inst possible to set (repeated) textures for each Material in Octane?
Will this implemented in next versions?

you can use procedural networks of 3d textures without using iamges or video ram that don't need UV maps as they are 3d, eg the object will be caved out of a piece of stone for example.

note: this is not available at full in the old 2.2b demo, only the latest customer version.

hallo radiance! Thanks for reply.

Sorry, but I do not quite understand.
What is an - procedural network of 3d textures?
I took a look at Tutorial 5 - Adjusting Materials - do you mean the way of creating textures using for example Checkered-Mix-Textures etc ?
So there ist now way to set image-Textures (repeated along x/y/z)?
Will it be possible in future?

Greetings

Hi perhaps i can explain.

You set up your materials in the 3d program you are using. This would include applying UV coordinates to each of the components in your 3D model and applying any maps that you have, including scaling and tiling of those maps. When you are happy with the look of your model you would then export it using the .Obj file format.Open Octane and then import the obj file into Octane. That should also load in the materials and maps that you previously applied in your 3D program. The UV coordinates you set up on the components including scaling and tiling of the maps in your 3D program should also be bought over into Octane. You then set up lights and adjust camera position in Octane to render out the scene. If any Map does not import correctly along with the model you can also manually import the map whilst in Octane. If in doubt alos take time to look at the Tutorials elseware on the web site.
Hope this helps.
