So does that mean we can start bugging you guys for new features on the next release yet?
Also: at what point do we need to send you guys some more green?

Great news
Can some one please explain how and when we can access the cloud rendering service, my understanding was that Octane 1.50 would include this service/option. I see i can save as an .ORBX format but how do i render this on the cloud. Can someone please give a detailed step by step description of how to achieve this.

Hi Nuge,
At the moment you would need to use an OTOY developer amazon instance to do this.
https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/sear ... Terms=otoy
You would need to get one of these up and running and put the 1.5 standalone on it, get the .orbx to it, and open the .orbx in the standalone on it and leave it rendering.
We do not have any such service where you can just upload the .orbx file via a website to a cloud and get a render back.
I'd like to say in more detail what the .orbx file is used for in octane. In the 1.5 SDK, the writing of .orbx packages has been exposed, so with some work from the plugin dev's, they can make their plugins able to write out .orbx packages of scenes, which can then be loaded into the standalone on some other machine (either in house or remote). This is a bit of work so you will most likely see the plugins pick this format up over some time.
Hope that helps...
Thanks
Chris.

Is this the "Octane Cloud Edition" we have been waiting for? Or is there going to be something else?FooZe wrote:Hi Nuge,

Hi Kavorka,
Short answer is no. I'm not the authority on info about the cloud but this isn't the end of the cloud plans.
There are plans for a more user friendly cloud service that is in closed beta at the moment. This is about all i can say.
Thanks
Chris.

I really can't wait to the cloud service to become available, I've been preaching the advantages of the cloud rendering since a year to my colleagues, everyone is waiting to see this "unbelievably fast" service, that you can use even on crappy laptops or tablet, maybe even on your phone!
I hope we can get our hands on it very soon!

Thanks but the AWS.amazon setup is as confusing as hell to a simple designer like me, a whole lot of jargon that i have no idea about, not even sure what i will get at the end of it and how much it will cost. I assumed maybe stupidly that we would have the option within Octane/Plug-in to simply press a button, log in, select the number of GPUs we wanted and hay presto the render would be delivered once completed and my account charged accordingly, What you are suggesting requires a degree in computer science just to understand. If this is the only option for "cloud Rendering" can you please write using simple language a detailed description of how this should work, feel free to use a number of screen shots and a movie of the process would be outstanding.
