This is not intended to be a polemic post, I respect the priorities and the development difficulties that Octane team has to face.
My company is about to make a pre-render animation video, and I was asked if Octane can do the task. For what we need, Octane has everything except object motion blur.
So, my question is: how far is object motion blur?

You should not start a project based on features we haven't announced yet, or put in a RC build for field testing.

That being said..we've been very busy ;)

What compisiting programme are you using? After Effects' built in motion blur is quite good.

Hi Rikk The Gaijin!
i dont know which software u use. But in case of cinema 4d there is an option for real object motion blur! You can activade "sub frame motion blur" in the options. There is only one limit u cant see the object motion blur in the live viewer - only in the renderings...

Blender users can enable Vector Blur at rendering time and use it in the node compositor onto the images rendered with the plugin version.
It is also possible to render fast with the internal renderer to get only the Vector blur pass, and use Vector Blur parameter onto a serie of images rendered in the Octane standalone from an alembic file for example.

Thank you all for the replies!
Goldorak I know that, we are not gonna base a project on Octane, they just ask me if Octane could do the task, if the answer is no, or not entirely, we will use another software (probably VRay).
We use Maya, I think we also have some After Effect's licenses, so what we will probably do, is to use Octane for some of the shots, add Motion Blur in AE, and then composite the result together...

Anyway, Goldorak reply means "it's far away", so yeah.
