Can you give more information as to the types of files this is occurring for you? Is it happening every time? Does it happen with the files from the Demo Suite (available on the downloads page?)

Well it happens like this: I set the camera using directlight , i change the resolution to 1600/1200 and when i change to pathtracing the display goes black and turns back on Octane is unresponsive and windows gives a message that display driver stopped working for a while and is running again. The file is one of mine ,on win 7, in smaller resolution it doesn't happen.

This definitely sounds like the watchdog timer thing. Please see the manual in the 2.3V5 download on page 28 (Chapter 1 section 6.6) and see it that helps the situation.

well after reading the instructions...there is nothing to change in registry as the value is already set to 0.
